Most of this web site was developed using a few simple tools that are available to anyone. When RED began creating web pages they used open office software and templates from our web host. These are okay, but when something goes wrong (and things do go wrong) if you don't have some knowledge of the underlying language it is very difficult to fix the problem. In addition, these tools can often end up with spagetti code that is very ugly and difficult to debug.
Until we invest in some upscale software like Dreamweaver, we'll try to keep it simple and use these tools:
- Online Tools
- HTML 4.01 Specification
- Cascading Style Sheets Level 2 Revision 1
- Markup Validation Service
- Software
- Gimp, GNU Image Manipulation Program
- Notepad
- Lamb Sundries Tool
- Color Chart
While our web site is very basic today, we learn more about html, cascading style sheets, gif images, and image manipulation every week. So check back occaisionally to see what we've come up with.
